JOHN COLUMBUS BELUE was born August 10, 1858 in Sugar, Lauderdale Co,  AL, and died October 14, 1947 in Rogerville, Lauderdale Co, AL.  He married SARAH ALMEDA WADDELL December 23, 1887 in Rogerville, Lauderdale Co, AL, daughter of MALOY WADDLE/WADDELL and SARAH PRINCE.  She was born March 01, 1856 in Rogerville, Lauderdale Co, AL, and died August 07, 1935 in Rogerville, Lauderdale Co, AL.

John Columbus Belue was reared on his father's farm and joined in its labors of cultivation and management until he was twenty-four years of age.  In the meantime he attended public schools, and at the age of twenty-two began teaching, a work he followed in Lauderdale County, AL for four years.  He took his medical course in Vanderbilt University at Nashville, and in April 1885, engaged in practice at Westmoreland in Limestone County, AL, remaining there a year and then spent a year at Appleton, Tennessee, and returning to Lauderdale County, settled on a farm one and one half miles north of Rogersville.  From his country place he answered calls for professional service over all that section of the country, doing a great deal of riding and driving before the days of the automobile.  In 1912, he moved into Rogersville and from that town looked after his general medical practice.  He had a comfortable residence with two acres of land on Lambs Ferry Street, other town real estate, and a large amount of farm land, which he operated through renters.  He was a democrat, a deacon in the Missionary Baptist Church of Rogersville, a member of Rogersville Lodge No. 147 of the Masonic Order, and was affiliated with the Woodmen of the World, Knights of Pythias and the County Medical Society.  He was a stockholder and vice president in the Bank of Rogersville.  During the World War he took part in all the drives for funds and other war purposes.   He married near Rogersville, December 20, 1887, Miss Sarah A. Waddell, member of an old and prominent family of Rogersville, and daughter of Maloy R. and Martha (Prince) Waddell, both deceased.  Her father was a farmer.  Buried in the Ray Cemetery, Rogersville, Lauderdale County, Alabama.
