Andrew Snoddy (1716 - 1783) The tombstone above reads "Here lieth the body of Andw. Snoddy who departed this life the 25th Decr. 1783 aged 67 years. And also Martha McColough his wife who departed this life the 7th of June 1780 aged 55 years. Here also is interred the remains of Sarah Beggs wife of Andrew Snoddy Junr. who departed this life the 6th of March 1833 aged 53 years. Also Margaret White daughter of Andrew Snoddy Junr. who departed this life 17th Nov. 1840 aged 44 years. Matthew Snoddy died July 11 1918 aged 75 years." |
Joseph Snoddy (1676 - 1727) Tombstone above states, "Here lyeth the body of Joseph Snoddy who died Sept. ye 1, 1727 aged 51 years. And also Mary his daughter who died Apr. 30th 1749 aged 22 years, & Matthew Snody of Carnduf who died Feb. ye 4th 1760 aged 75 years. Janet Snoddy died Oct. 1, 1924, aged 79 years." |
St.
Cedma’s is the oldest church in Larne, over 1,000 years old, and was originally
a Celtic church. It has many armorial stones dating back to the
early period of the Plantation settlement in the town and the building
includes a leper’s window.
